BIG NEWS – NGL has filed a new LTC Product

We’re thrilled to share big news from NGL Long-Term Care! NGL has filed an innovative new LTC product packed with enhanced features and benefits designed to better serve your clients. Pending regulatory approval, this will elevate the way NGL protects your clients’ futures.

New Product Preview

Pending states’ regulatory approval, NGL’s new long-term care offering includes the following:

What’s Staying Great…

  • Joint product for couples
  • Third shared pool option for couples (Shared Benefit Amount Rider)
  • 2, 3, 4, 5 or 6-year benefit periods
  • 10-Pay option (includes rate guarantee)
  • 90- and 180-day elimination periods

Exciting New Additions…

  • Monthly benefits of $1,500 to $12,000 ($300 increments)
  • Calendar day Elimination Period
  • Compound inflation riders of 1,2,3,4, and 5%
  • Alternate plan of care
  • Premium based on current age rather than age-nearest-birthdate
  • 5% partner discount for applicants that are part of a couple, but applying individually
  • 10-year rate guarantee for lifetime pay
Exchange Program:

To ensure a smooth product transition that is fair to consumers that want to become insured before the new product is released, NGL will offer a guaranteed exchange to the new product.

Here’s What You Need to Know:

Exchange eligibility starts with applications dated May 1, 2025, or later in the Compact States, which are:

AL, AK, AZ, AK, CO, CT, DE, DC, GA, HI, IA, ID, IL, IN, KS, KY, LA, MD, ME, MA, MI, MN, MS, MT, NC, ND, NE, NV, NH, NJ, NM, OH, OK, OR, PN, RI, TN, TX, UT, VA, VT, WA, WV, WI and WY.

  • Non-Compact States will have exchange opportunities as filing and launch timelines are confirmed
  • Exchanges are available for 60 days after the product launches in each state
  • No new underwriting required—hassle-free!
  • New product premiums will be based on the insured’s age at time of exchange

Documenting a Written Strategy for Extended Care

As you may know, long-term care insurance isn’t the plan — insurance might help pay for the plan. This new worksheet can help clients think through and document their long-term care wishes. It can help discuss where care would be received and who would provide the care.

This worksheet should be completed no matter what the funding source. This is the family’s roadmap. We encourage couples to complete the worksheet individually and then compare notes.

This tool can help you, the financial advisor, to customize a funding plan as the client documents their concerns, family history and potential funding sources for the plan.

The Foundational Plan – An affordable approach to Thrivent LTC

To reach more middle-income families and have more proactive conversations, the extended care conversation needs to be simplified, the need must be established and initial coverage must be seen as affordable.

Thrivent is introducing a Foundational Plan design for their traditional LTCi that will simplify the initial discussion, help FAs avoid giving clients sticker shock, and allow the client to buy-up to additional coverage as they see fit.
